About Surgical Care Affiliates

Surgical Care Affiliates (SCA) is a new company, created in 2007 with a physician-led philosophy of clinical excellence. In fact, we have a Physician Leadership Team, comprised of 15 key physicians from across the country.

Headquartered in Birmingham, Alabama, SCA operates a national network of ambulatory surgical centers and surgical hospitals, with approximately 3,700 full-time teammates and more than 2,000 physician partners. Our Vision is to be the partner of choice for surgical care.

A key to our growth and success has been our focus on our Values. Teammates from across the country democratically selected six values in May 2009 that form the core of our business model. These values – Clinical Quality, Integrity, Teamwork, Service Excellence, Accountability and Continuous Improvement – are regularly highlighted and reinforced.

Our Mission is to care for patients, serve physicians, and improve healthcare in America. The surgical centers and surgical hospitals operated by SCA focus on short-term care and primarily provide non-emergency surgical and other procedures in several specialties, including orthopedics, ophthalmology, gastroenterology, pain management, otolaryngology, urology, gynecology, and others. The centers and hospitals provide the facilities, logistics and support staff necessary for physicians to perform these procedures.
