The Physician Leadership Board members advise and guide our management team on subjects ranging from the design and oversight of our clinical programs to the shape of our culture and strategy. Members of our Physician Leadership Board include:
Richard Areen, M.D.
Otolaryngologist, Sutter River City Surgery Center
Dr. Richard Areen is the president of Sacramento ENT, a 13-member ENT specialty group based in Sacramento, Calif. He joined the group in 1982. He is also a past governor of the American Academy of Otolaryngology, and is the founder and original president of Capital Medical Specialists, a 250-member specialty independent physician association. Dr. Areen earned his medical degree at the University of Michigan.
Brion J. Beerle, M.D.
Anesthesiology, Alaska Surgery Center
Dr. Brion James Beerle is the current medical director of the Alaska Surgery Center based in Anchorage, AK, as well as manager of Chugach Anesthesia. He received his medical degree from the University of Rochester School of Medicine, and completed his post-graduate training at Dartmouth-Hitchcock Medical Center. He also completed a fellowship in critical care and cardiothoracic. Dr. Beerle is board certified in critical care and cardiothoracic anesthesia, anesthesiology and intraoperative transesophageal echocardiography.
Thomas M. Deas, Jr., M.D.
Gastroenterologist, Fort Worth Endoscopy Center
Dr. Thomas Deas began his medical practice in Fort Worth, Texas, after retiring from a 20-year career in the U.S. Air Force (where he earned the rank of colonel) in 1991. While on active duty with the USAF, he earned his medical degree from Louisiana State University School of Medicine in Shreveport, La. He is currently a member of Gastroenterology Associates of North Texas, a 16-physician single-specialty gastroenterology group in Fort Worth.
Ken Deck, M.D.
General Surgeon, Saddleback Valley Surgery Center
Dr. Ken Deck has been practicing surgery in Laguna Hills, CA for almost 30 years. Early in his practice he performed general and vascular surgeries, but his focus now is on breast cancer. He pioneered the use of laparoscopic surgery in Orange County. Dr. Deck earned his medical degree at Ohio State University.
Michael Redler, M.D.
Orthopedist, Surgery Center of Fairfield County
Dr. Michael Redler earned his medical degree at the University of Connecticut School of Medicine. He is a founding partner of the Orthopaedic and Sports Medicine Center, with five locations in Connecticut. He is the orthopaedic consultant to Major League Lacrosse, and is the head team physician for Sacred Heart University. Dr. Redler is also a visiting assistant professor of orthopaedic surgery at the University of Virginia.
Bruce Scott, M.D.
Otolaryngologist, Surgecenter of Louisville
Dr. Bruce Scott, an otolaryngologist/head and neck surgeon, is the medical director for Surgecenter of Louisville (Kentucky). He earned his medical degree at the University of Texas. He is a current board member of the Kentucky Medical Association, and is a past board member of the American Medical Association.
